Senior Modelmaker - permanent role, 3-5 days per week
We have an immediate vacancy for an experienced product modelmaker following the retirement of a member of staff.
The right person needs to be an unrelenting problem-solver, a determined self-starter, and totally at home in a modelmaking, engineering, and prototyping workshop.
Specific skills we require for this role include:
High quality, precise and crisp hand finishing of product models
Working to precision tolerances (0.1mm typical) even when required to undertake hand fabrication
Experience with all materials including plastics, metal, wood and composites and the full range of adhesives and fillers
Colour mixing and spraying using 2k, 1k and cellulose paints to all finishes ranging from high gloss to specific VDI sparks
Use manual machines (lathe, mills) to a high level of precision
Safe and proficient use of hand tools (saws, files, sanders, drills)
Operation of power tools (routers, band saws, drill presses etc)
Assembly of intricate components
An understanding and ability to apply mechanical principles to help deliver mechanical test rigs
Experience of PU and silicone casting
Interpretation of Technical Data: Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and 3D CAD models
Quality Control: Ensuring models meet specified tolerances and visual standards
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

Freelance Modelmaker
We are always keen to hear from experienced freelance modelmakers to add to our roster as we frequently have
short-term contracts and can be flexible to fit project requirements to fit personal circumstances.
Currently we are looking for experienced product modelmakers with the following skills:
High end visual model finishing and spraying
Silicone casting
Mechanical aptitude to assist in assembly and repair of a low volume
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
