Loopwheels
The team at Loopwheels set out to reinvent the wheel, literally. They developed a wheel that has carbon ‘loops’ in place of spokes that flex to offer suspension within the wheel. It was vital to demonstrate that the solution could be robust and effective before crowdfunding on Kickstarter.
Interactual designed and built a series of dynamic test rigs to simulate various use scenarios in order to mitigate high-risk potential failure modes. The largest rig, designed for impact testing, was 6 metres tall to simulate the wheel being ridden up a kerb at speed. The rigs are still used frequently when testing their new designs.
