Case Study:
Loop wheels

Loop wheelsThe team at Loopwheels set out to reinvent the wheel, literally. They developed a bike wheel that has carbon ‘loops’ in place of spokes that flex to offer suspension within the wheel. It was vital to demonstrate that the solution could be robust and effective before crowdfunding on Kickstarter.

Interactual designed and built a series of dynamic test rigs to simulate various use scenarios and mitigate high-risk potential failure modes. The largest of these was 6 metres tall to simulate the wheel being ridden up a kerb at speed. The team has recently reused the rigs to develop a wheelchair variant. www.loopwheels.com

Case Study:
Galleria Melissa

Galleria MelissaGalleria Melissa, a Brazilian fashion footwear brand, opened their flagship European store in Covent Garden in 2014. A key display was to be a kinetic installation featuring 21 illuminated perspex display boxes independently moving from floor to ceiling in orchestrated patterns.

Interactual was given 9 working days from briefing to the store launch party to design, build and install the 21 separate mechanisms. Subsequently Interactual in partnership with Imagination Factory, undertook a FMEA to help determine the requirements for ongoing maintenance. You can see the installation running here or pop along to the store at 43 King St, London WC2E 8JY
